Grade 6 Social Studies

 Grade 6 Social Studies Curriculum

The sixth grade social studies curriculum introduces students to world cultures and geography. Through geography, students learn the locations of significant places in each of these world regions; they explore cultural and natural features that characterize each region; they trace movement of people, ideas, and products within the regions; and they discover ways that each region can be divided into sub-regions. Historical background is set for each region to enable students to understand how it developed from the past to the present. How people within a region are governed is also studied. Students study public issues of global significance in these regions and work to resolve them through study, discussion, and writing.
